M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN is looking for a dynamic RN leader to support our Emergency Department as a Patient Care Supervisor.
Fairview Southdale Hospital is a 390-bed licensed facility providing care to people living and working in the southwest Twin Cities metro area. Southdale Hospital offers over 40 specialty services including cardiology, orthopedics, oncology, obstetrics, primary care, neurosciences, critical care, vascular, trauma, and emergency services. Our emergency department was one of the first two Emergency Departments in the State of Minnesota to join a partnership of health care systems to create a community resource of mobile ECMO to provide cardiac services earlier to cardiac arrest patients with a mission to provide Minnesota the highest survival in the world from out of hospital cardiac arrests.
For the second year in a row, M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital was one of two hospitals in the Twin Cities to receive a 5-Star rating in the 2019 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare quality survey. The Emergency department is a Level 3 Trauma Center and Designated Comprehensive Stroke Center. We have 44 beds with an annual census of approximately 56,000 visits and growing!
The Emergency Department was newly designed in 2015.
Team members include Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, and Case Managers. Emergency Department Registered Nurses provide emergency nursing care for a diversified population of all age distributions (infant to geriatrics) and all problem types in a very busy Emergency Room.
The Emergency Department provides services to an average of 153 patient daily.
This position is responsible for assisting the Manager/Director with department operations. This includes supervision of personnel and projects as delegated, including but not limited to human resources management, nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities.
Partners with Manager/Director to supervise/manage day-to-day or shift-to-shift operations to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization.
Assists Manager/Director to plan, manage, coordinate and evaluate patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
Prioritizes assignments to assure timely, productive, and efficient use of resources.
Assists NM to manage equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget.
Collaborates with Nursing, Provider leadership and other stakeholders to implement and evaluate standards of practice.
Collects and analyzes quality data and utilizes process improvement methodology to insure deliver of safe and quality patient care.
Assists with department change and acts a change agent in of system change, procedure change and process changes.
Demonstrates skills/abilities in provision of patient care
Ensures unit protocols, benchmarks, and hospital procedures are initiated appropriately.
Assists Manager/Director to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the quality improvement initiatives.
Assists Manager/Director with human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations.
Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Advocates for patient, family and staff needs.
Drives improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience.
Assists Manager/Director to ensure staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency.
Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.

Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Master's degree is in nursing, Bachelor's degree in other area of study will be accepted.
Three years nursing experience, at least one of which is in a formal or informal ( charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
