The Nursing Director is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and maintaining all patient care and administrative functions in his/her assigned patient care/support departments so that the hospital can accomplish its mission and objectives effectively and economically, and provide quality patient care. Administrative functions include budgeting and fiscal management, development of standards, policies and procedures, development and maintenance of on-going performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies and others developing and maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction/service excellence possible. Other responsibilities include the recruitment and retention of qualified health professionals and on-going development of programs or participation in activities to support this effort, participation on hospital committees and interdepartmental activities, and providing health promotion and educational awareness to citizens in the community.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Current license in good standing as an RN in Maryland or a compact state
5-7 years management experience at the Nursing Department Manager level or above
Knowledge of the scope of nursing as designated by the nurse practice act
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and/or Business, Health Services Administration (PhD in Nursing and/or Health Care Administration/Business or related field preferred)
