Pediatric Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship 2021-2022
Boston Children's Hospital
The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer institute offers a one-year pediatric palliative care fellowship for a qualified nurse practitioner (PNP and FNP) within the Harvard Interprofessional Pediatric Palliative Care Fellowship Program. The fellowship is designed to develop skills in areas of palliative care such as pain and symptom management, facilitation around goals of care conversations, and psychosocial support for patients with all types of life-threatening illness and conditions. We work with patients in oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, neonatology, solid organ transplant, metabolism, genetics, etc. The nurse practitioner fellow will train alongside two physician fellows and one social work fellow in this unique interprofessional program. The fellowship includes training in inpatient, outpatient, and community palliative care as well as bereavement care. Mentoring by the interdisciplinary team that makes up PACT will enhance the fellow's integration with the didactic portion of the fellowship curriculum. This fellowship is designed to conform to the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association's Standards for Clinical Practicum in Palliative Nursing for Practicing Professional Nurses, Scope and Standards of Practice, and Competencies for Advanced Practice Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses.
