The Women's Services department is comprised of 18 private rooms in labor and delivery, each fully equipped to deliver babies of all gestational ages. 10 of these rooms are routinely used for laboring patients, and 8 are dedicated to high risk antepartum patients. The department also has an OB-ED of 3 beds, that is expanding to 5 beds in late 2018. We have two operating rooms, and a two-bed PACU.
The Mother-Baby area practices couplet care. It has 17 suites, including a large sleeping area including a queen -sized bed, as well as a sitting area for families. Each suite is equipped with a mini refrigerator, and a flat screen television in each area. Additionally, there are 10 other large private rooms similarly equipped.
The department is staffed with highly skilled labor and postpartum nurses, as well as Lactation Consultants 7 days/week. In Labor and Delivery, we work with in-house OB Techs to provide the surgical support needed to respond to any emergency, as well as unit secretaries. We also have OB hospitalists 24/7, 24/7 anesthesia support, and 24/7 neonatology available. We partner daily with our Level III NICU, to provide expected or unexpected newborn support to our tiniest patients.
Our goal is to provide the safest care for our patients, and we staff to AWHONN Staffing guidelines as much as possible.
