As an Intensive Care Unit RN with Bayonne Medical Center, you will respond to cardiopulmonary arrest (Code Blue), RRT, and emergencies throughout the facility, performing functions of advanced cardiac life support, including defibrillation, transcutaneous pacing, documentation and supervision of the code team members.
You will report to the ICU Nurse Manager, supervise Critical Care Tech and other Critical Care staff, and collaborate with physicians, clergy, and hospital staff, and patients’ families to provide appropriate critical care nursing interventions for the patients using the nursing process.
• Communicating assessment data, test, and therapy results to the physician and other members of the team when appropriate • Providing a clear, concise patient report that contains pertinent information to other staff • Competently caring for any patient presenting to the Critical Care Unit, and if unfamiliar with the care required, be willing and able to seek assistance from a more experienced staff member, and review procedures, information manuals, or reference texts to meet the challenge. • Performing quality control checks of departmental equipment (i.e. crash carts, defibrillators, suction equipment, glucometers, etc.) • Operating the defibrillator/cardioverter, transcutaneous pacing, temporary pacemakers, ICP monitoring, PA caths, and other instrumentation. • Interpreting monitor strips and EKGs for acute changes that would warrant notification of physician for initiation of therapy (i.e. thromolytics, antiarrhythmic therapy, pacemaker, etc.) • Performing 12 or 18 lead ECG with proper lead placement for ECG monitoring • Caring for patients with artificial airways (ET placement and care, cuff inflation , extubation, treatments, oxygen concentration)
• BSN or current enrollment in BSN program • New Jersey RN license • BLS, ACLS, IV certs and a Critical Care Course required. CCRN preferred. • 2+ years previous critical care experience including, but not limited to, angioplasty, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, AICD, physical assessments, and transporting crucially ill patients.
Per Diem I 7:00pm - 7:30am every other weekend every other holiday
