Labor and delivery nurses are unique among the different types of nurses because they have a very specific job: to help deliver healthy babies and get moms through the process safely. In essence, they are doing what some might consider the most important nursing job of all — bringing new lives into this world.

Responsibilities:
  • The staff nurse serves as the leader of the Nursing Care team who is ultimately responsible and accountable to the patient for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient focused, outcome oriented care. Will develop competencies for functioning safely in all areas of Labor and Delivery Services. Nursing plan of care will include newborns, adolescents, and adults.

Qualifications

What Qualifications You Will Need:
  • Graduate of a Nursing Program from an accredited school
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Louisiana or valid compact license from permanent state of residence
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers to be completed within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS to be completed within 30 days of hire
  • NRP within 6 months
  • Pediatric Trauma (to be obtained during orientation)
