About Facility:492 Beds2105 E. South Blvd., Montgomery, AL 36116Level II Trauma CenterLevel III NICUPrimary Stroke CenterGeneral Information:Number of beds: 7 labor beds, 3 antepartrum beds, 2 triage beds, 2 OR'sWill you accept a first time traveler: NoMust have 3 years of experience in LDRAvg. 55-75 deliveries/monthPatient Types:A lor ot high risk pregnancies. Laboring patients, Scheduled Inductions, Scheduled Cesarean Sections, High Risk Patients (Magnesium Sulfate Patients, Preterm Labor Patients, Diabetic Patients, Postpartum hemorrhage), Hyperemesis Patients, Cerclages, NST's, ~20 week gestation. Cervidil induction.Rarely transfer patients oue due to level III NICULooking for very experienced LDR RN, due to the high volume of complex high risk patients.Mother baby experience highly preferredPatient Ratios:AWHONN guidelines - but also flexible and dependent on staffingTypically 1:1 - i.e pts on Pitocin1:2 - Pitocin + triage or cervidil1:3 - stable antepartum or triageMother Baby: up to 6 patients, either 1:3 couplets or 1:6 momsRequired Certifications:BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal MonitoringSkills required:Circulating cesarean sections, Mother baby (Couplet Care), Catching babies, will need to know what to do for the first hour. Experience wil all the high risk patients (shoulder dystonia, emergent c section, post partum hemorrhage, preterm on Mg, pre-eclampsia)Support on the Unit:OBT(Ratio:) Usually 1 OBT on days and nights, second OBT sometimes available on callReceptionist/HUC? No - But OBTCharge nurse? YesPhlebotomy? We have phlebotomy in house but mostly collect our own labsIV/VAT Team? Yes if needed.Hospitalist? Anesthesia in house, OB provider not in house (call for deliveries)6 providors: daytime - 4 in office connected to hospital
2 in office 20 minutes awayNighttime - 1 on call and 1 back up on callPM RN - would call MD in for deliveryTelemetry monitoring tech? Are RNs required to read/measure tele strips? No.Technology/Equipment:EMR: Cerner Maternity OR surginetIV pumps: Hospira/ Abbott Plum A+Medication dispensing: OmnicellMonitors: GE Corometrics Fetal Monitors, Novii, Space Labs*Paper charting: once baby is delivered (about 3 sheets)Floating: If yes, where?Yes, Mother Baby. Basic assessments. Documenting feeds/wets. Expect to know how to draw bili, if needed. Admission RN available during daytime that will do PKUsOrientation:3 shifts in LDR & 1 shift in Mother/BabyScheduling:Weekend rotation: every other weekendOn call? No mandatory call
