Summary
Job Summary
The Fetal Surveillance Registered Nurse (RN) is proficient in the application and interpretation of electronic fetal heart rate monitor tracings based on current NICHD guidelines. The Fetal Surveillance RN assesses uterine activity and fetal heart rate response to labor for multiple patients on multiple labor units simultaneously, to assist with differentiating between normal and abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and promote appropriate, physiologically based clinical decisions. The Fetal Surveillance RN works in collaboration with the bedside nurse by identifying and relaying information pertaining to fetal monitoring changes to the bedside RN and/or charge nurse as appropriate.
Job Requirements
Education
Required: Graduate of an approved nursing program
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
Preferred: Five years' labor and delivery experience within the last eight years
Preferred: Labor and Delivery experience monitoring patients at a facility providing level III or higher neonatal care.
Skills

Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.
Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Required: MO RN license
Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days
Required: ACLS must be obtained within one year of hire
Required: AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 6 months of hire.
Required: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within the last two years
Required: Must pass designated fetal monitoring interview exam to be considered a viable candidate
Preferred: NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (EFM-C)
