Registered Nurse RN, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU, Full-Time, Nights
BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area. BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and customer service.
BSA Women's & Infant Center:
Includes Labor & Delivery, Couplet Care, Newborn Nursery, NICU, and Lactation. The department is comprised of 26 LDRP single-room birthing suites, 2 C-section surgical suites, 20 licensed nursery beds, and 20 licensed Level III NICU beds. New parents are supported with childbirth education plus a lactation nurse available 24 hours a day. Along with our excellent hospital based mother/baby services, BSA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) fixed wing transportation team, available 24/7, flies to rural communities to transport babies by airplane from area hospitals to the Level III designated BSA NICU.

Job Summary :
The Registered Nurse is accountable for the health status and health needs of their patients based upon interpretation of health data and preventative health practices in collaboration with the patients and the interdisciplinary healthcare team members. The NICU Staff RN cares for the Neonate from Level II through Level IV, micro-premie at 25-weeks gestation to term 40-week both sick infants, infants with congenital disease processes or post-surgical babies.

Current Texas RN license
CPR certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
NPR required
S.T.A.B.L.E. within first 6-months of hire
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :
Minimum 2-yrs Neonatal ICU RN nursing experience required with NICU Transport Team experience desired
Previous experience with newborn delivery, advanced resuscitation, preterm infants, infants in transition, term infants, post anesthesia recovery for infants, and assisting with newborn emergency management preferred
Experience with equipment specific to NICU: transport incubator, T-piece resuscitator, infant radiant warmer and incubator, infant cardiorespiratory monitors, phototherapy equipment, transcutaneous bilimeter, syringe infusion pumps, electric breast pumps, infant ostomy care products
Assess, plan, evaluates, documents total nursing process
Organized, self-motivated with exceptional follow-through skills
Computer skills necessary; EMR EPIC documentation
Multi-task constantly and tolerate multiple interruptions
Clear and effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
Compassionate customer service skills

Job Duties:
- Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
- Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
- Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, or childbirth and develop health improvement programs.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Conduct specified laboratory tests.
- Observe nurses and visit patients to ensure proper nursing care.
- Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition
