Pay range is between $39.91-$49.00/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. A differential is provided for flexibility associated with scheduling +$2.50/hr for weekend shifts. **Starting rate includes night differential.

POSITION SUMMARY

Promoting patient safety, patient centered and relationship based care, a health work environment, and honoring our mission are key responsibilities. The CTL is a department leader, mentor, and role model. Is responsible for the department in the absence of the Manager and/or Director. The CTL is responsible for unit operations when assigned the charge role. The CTL is responsible to both the unit and the units role in the overall hospital operations and flow. Represents the staff through growth, change, and problem resolution. Provides appropriate action, follow-through and closure to any situation affecting the unit in which she/he is involved. Takes responsibility for assigned unit projects. Interacts in a respectful manner, considerate of age and physical abilities, and provides assistance to individuals in a manner that takes into account their special needs or age related needs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

1. Colorado RN license in good standing

2. Certifications required based on department RN job description.

Experience

Minimum of 6 months of RN experience. Must have 6 months of nursing experience.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

1. Management position supervising RN, PCA, UC and other support staff.

2. Delegates to and supervises nurses, support staff and volunteers.

3. Staff growth and development in conjunction with unit manager by providing excellence in care, opportunities for growth and communicating problem behavior.

4. Supports staff by intervening in conflict and/or problem solving. Escalates to ARN if unable to de-escalate, resolve or facilitate.

5. Meets budget, reduce waste, meet HPPD.

6. Provides staff positive recognition, constructive feedback, and coaching.

7. Promotes speaking up and crucial conversations.

8. Respect privacy and confidentiality of co-workers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Supervises and coordinates shift operations to include early discharge, timely admissions, staffing, assignments, planning for pending admits. Evidenced by meeting hospital and unit metrics.

a. Staffing and assignments meet unit HPPD (productivity measure) and balance acuity, experience and ability throughout shift.

b. Adheres to regulatory, human resource and employee health regulations.

c. Leads huddles relaying key patient safety and practice changes each shift.

d. Articulates patient safety issues related to flow, admissions, staffing to the ARN.

e. Negotiates and compromises to meet both unit and hospital wide demand. The ARN will have final decision making if conflict.

2. Maintains RN competency.

3. Promotes relationship based care with a focus on patient safety, quality care, and service excellence.

4. Consistent communication, a healthy, calm work environment, and staff feeling supported and heard are key intentions for every shift.

5. As a supervisor, supports management and provides staff

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

1. Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical, biowaste, explosive, radiation, etc.

2. Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, etc.

3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.

4. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).

5. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
