Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Maternal Transport RN, you will assist with the delivery of air medical and ground transport care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Performs time critical advanced life support patient care and management

About this unit:

  • When not transporting, nurse will be working with inpatient Labor & Delivery
  • Follow AWHONN guidelines for staffing perinatal unit ratios
  • Twelve-week orientation for new and experienced RNs
  • Hybrid of self-scheduling and template scheduling
  • Opportunities for professional growth include becoming a preceptor, charge nurse, Shared Leadership Councils
  • Average annual deliveries 2800-3000


Responsibilities:

  • Under the general direction of the HCA Midwest Maternal Transport Coordinator, Transport Program Director and Transport Medical Director (Maternal Leadership Team), the Maternal Transport Nurse, functions to identify, plan, implement and evaluate the stabilization and emergency care of high-risk maternal patients in collaboration with the Medical Control Provider.
  • Commitment to performing daily transport responsibilities each shift. Serves as an exceptional ambassador for HCA to referring facilities, staff, and providers.
  • The Transport RN practices in accordance with philosophy, policies, procedures and standards of the hospital: functions within the guidelines of the protocols for the transport program that are reviewed and agreed on by the HCA Midwest Maternal Leadership Team.
  • Care is provided in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nurse Practice Acts, and AAP Guidelines for Air and Ground Transport.


What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation
  • Ability to achieve and maintain BCLS. NRP certification required. RNC-OB (Inpatient Obstetrics) certification within 18 months of hire and must be maintained while in this role. C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification is required within 6 months of hire and must be maintained while in this role
  • Prefer minimum of 2 years current clinical experience as a RN working in a tertiary obstetrical care center
