Ideal position for former/current doulas, nurses with a passion for physiologic birth in a hospital setting, nurses interested in high risk perinatal care, nurses seeking to impact change in the community
- We are an academic medical center with midwives and physicians who are faculty at George Washington University School of Medicine, with physician and nurse residency programs
- We value and teach shared decision making with patients
- We have a supportive and team-friendly unit culture
- We support in-hospital physiologic birth, labor support, freedom of movement, hydrotherapy, water births, external cephalic versions, doulas, vaginal birth after cesareans, delayed cord clamping, skin to skin in the operating room and vaginal breech deliveries
- We support high risk pregnancies of all gestational ages with a Level 3B NICU staffed by Children’s National Medical Center physicians, in-house Maternal Fetal Medicine, and a dedicated antepartum unit
- We have a Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP) Center of Excellence with dedicated anesthesia coverage
- We provide AWHONN Fetal Monitoring training for staff (nurses, midwives and physicians) every 2 years
- Our hospital is a member of the District of Columbia Perinatal Quality Collaborative
