Job Details

Position Overview:

The Registered Nurse coordinates the plan of care, provides direct age-appropriate nursing interventions, and patient education by collaborating with ancillary and other patient-team personnel. Directs LPNs, CNAs, and ward secretaries/technicians. Works under the supervision of the nurse manager and/or nursing supervisor. Specific to the Family Center, the RN provides comprehensive, family centered care in the areas of antepartum, low and high risk obstetrical patients, medical/surgical patients, well newborn and selected high risk newborns.

Essential Functions:

Uses acceptable standards of practice based on nursing process and theory to help the

individual/family/group with complex and unpredictable needs. Identify and meet basic age-appropriate health needs. The nurse coordinates care of the individual/family/group using a multidisciplinary holistic approach.

Promotes a climate in which consumers can act in their own interest or intervenes when they are unable to do so.

Uses the nursing process and theory to provide age-appropriate individual, family, guardian, designated surrogate education using a wide range of teaching activities to promote health.

Works to achieve desired health care outcomes by effectively utilizing human and material resources.

Is accountable for the ethical, legal and professional responsibilities related to nursing practice across all roles, within the scope of practice.

Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.

Performs other incidental and related duties as required including floating to other departments

 

Education and Work Experience

Education: Graduated RN, ADN, diploma, BSN nursing program, with a current or pending Colorado nursing license.

Training and Experience: BCLS, ACLS and PALS required. NRP required within 6 months of hire. STABLE and Fetal Monitoring recommended. 2 years’ experience in OB preferred.

Job Knowledge: Encompasses a wide range of nursing, psycho-social and medical information which includes nursing process, communications and problem-solving, assessment and prioritizing skills.  

 

Preferably 2 years of Experience

Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner.

Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health.

Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.

The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment.  The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
