Department Profile

Tampa General Hospital offers a full range of women’s health and pediatric services. This division includes: Mother Baby unit, Ante-Post Partum Unit, Labor & Delivery, Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Medical-Surgical Unit, Pediatric Dialysis, Pediatric Day Hospital, and the Transition Nursery.  

Job Summary 

Under general supervision of the department manager, the Lactation Coordinator will provide expert assessment, treatment, consultation, planning and leadership oversight for optimal lactation management in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. .He/she will ensure the lactation consultants function in accordance to established standards, policies, procedures and professional guidelines.  The Lactation Coordinator collaborates and participates with the manager in daily department operations.  Responsible for ensuring all team members perform job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

A minimum of 3 years of experience as a lactation consultant is required. A combination of outpatient and inpatient experience is preferred.  Program development experience preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing; licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of Florida; Current certification International Board Certification for Lactation Consultants (IBCLC).
