Provides leadership to care providers and assumes 24-hour accountability for clinical practice. Ensures the provision of quality patient care and customer services. Fosters staff's commitment to improving patient outcomes. In collaboration with Director, monitors staffing and resource management, including but not limited to financial goals. Follows department specific policies and procedures and maintains competencies of assigned department.

- Associate's degree Required and
- BSN Preferred and
- Must enroll in a BSN program within 6 months of hire and successfully complete the program with 3 years from hire. Required and
- 3-4 years Nursing experience in related specialty Required and
- 1-2 years Supervisory, management, or charge nurse experience Required
- Current Maryland or Compact RN License Required and
- Current CPR Required and
- ACLS and PALS certification within six (6) months of hire date within 180 Days Required and
- Professional certification encouraged within one year of hire within 1 Year Required
- Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior that supports the hospital's mission, values and commitment to compliance with all federal, state and regulatory laws. Inspires trust and exhibits honesty and integrity within the scope of daily activities.
- Ability to effectively manage resources in order to ensure effective and efficient department operations.
- Ability to lead and manage projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to lead change and empower others in order to influence clinical practice and political processes.
- Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, and quality standards and safety standards.
- Maintains a managerial/leadership presence in the clinical areas.
- Serves as a resource to nursing, medical, and ancillary staff.
- Functions in the role of the Charge Nurse as needed.
- Counsels staff using effective and constructive communication skills.
- Acts as a project lead for departmental objectives or process improvements.
- Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing assignments for current and upcoming shifts. 8. Investigates patient complaints and follows through on incident reports and corrective measures in collaboration with the Director.
- Assists with the orientation, competencies, and continuing education for staff.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and presides in the absence of the Director.
