Responsibilities:

Intervenes effectively with safe comprehensive nursing care based on pathophysiologic processes and nursing observations of the critically ill child.
Provides highly skilled care to the critically ill child by monitoring and assessing physiologic variables and administer appropriate interventions for positive outcomes.
Initiates and completes patient admission history and assessment according to established guidelines
Performs a systemic pediatrics assessment.
Assesses patient's psychosocial needs and behaviors relating to current situation and develops individualized plan of care for patient. Revise plans as needed.
Observes symptoms or change in patient status and responds promptly, exercising reasonable judgement.
Explains the rationale for selected therapies based on observation and findings.
Evaluate the patient's response to the therapeutic regimen.
Administers blood and blood products according to hospital standards.
Correctly obtain and interprets blood gas values.
Participation in the resuscitation of the patient.
Initiates and maintain IV therapy. Administers fluids and electrolytes based on lab values.
Monitors children on mechanical ventilation and troubleshoot equipment if needed. Sets up hemodynamis monitoring equipment. Maintains the arterial line. Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment of accuracy.
Demonstrates collaborative practices through effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
Reports significant conditions which might impact patient safety and work habits.
Observes, follows, and enforces infection control protocols.
Describes the actions, uses, dosages, side effects, and nursing responsibilities associated with administration of specific medications.
18.Records data reflecting pertinent trends in the child's condition according to the hospital's standards and practices

Initiates, evaluates and document parental teaching based on identified learning needs.
20.Take charge of NICU when necessary.

Ensures that all safety management issues are addressed.
Orients new nursing personnel to the unit policies, procedures and practices.
23..Checks narcotics with previous tour.

Maintains professional competency through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
All other duties assigned by supervisor or designee.
*Rotational weekends/ Required to work on Weekend if facility's supervisor wants.

Skills and Experience required:

Two years of the following experience is required:

Maternal and child experience

IV Insertion and phlebotomy skill

Conscious sedation

Licenses and Certifications Required:

RN License - required

Primary Source Verification - required

AHA BLS - required

IV Certification - required

Head Cooling certification - preferred

PDA - preferred

Conscious sedation certification - preferred

Minimum Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree- (combined with 2 years of experience)

Associate's Degree- (combined with 5 years of experience)
