The Registered Nurse is responsible for promoting and restoring patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of patient care; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary professional staffs; providing physical and psychological supports for patients, friends, and families. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the staff, patients, families and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Job Responsibilities: Appropriately complete an initial interview and provides initial counseling and education
Able to appropriately risk screen a maternity patient as a no risk, at risk or high risk patient and does so throughout the prenatal period
Familiar with the Perinatal High Risk Management Program and makes appropriate referrals as needed
Able to appropriately determine an estimated due date and gestational age by using the gestational wheel
Appropriately conduct an interview with the maternity patients at each visit and provides counseling and education as well as having needed lab work done and/or schedules ultrasounds as indicated
Able to appropriately assess for fetal heart tones by using the Doppler and documents on Hollister accordingly
Able to appropriately assess fundal height and documentation on the Hollister
Able to appropriately set up the maternity patient on the fetal monitoring machine and can make an assessment in regard to knowing a baseline fetal heart rate, timing contractions, and if any ominous signs are occurring
Appropriately obtain vital signs on all patients and has adequate knowledge as to what is normal and what is not
Effectively administer medications according to nursing protocol and provides appropriate counseling and education
Appropriately communicate with multi-disciplinary team members to help resolve patient problems and/or needs
Able to set up exam room for various procedures and provide assistance if needed
Appropriately operate all equipment by following manufacturer's instructions
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Keep exam rooms clean and stocked as well as keeping nursing station neat and orderly at all times
Adequate knowledge in regarding to lab duties, infection control procedures, and appropriately completes all lab forms
Appropriately conducts a GYN interview, provides counseling and education and is able to risk screen all patients
Appropriate telephone communication skills
Adequate knowledge in regard to emergency procedures such as being able to perform CPR, assist with a delivery and assist patients to safety if a fire should occur
Adequate knowledge of all logbooks and keeps them up to date on a regular basis
Knowledgeable in the use of the computer to check patient appointments, enter pertinent information and/or schedule appointments
Appropriately adhere to OSHA protocols and is familiar with the Material Safety Management Book
Appropriately maintain patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential
Appropriately establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends and families
Appropriately maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, staff meetings, reviewing professional publications, etc.
Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by, getting along well with others, communicate effectively, respond to request, build rapport and participate in team problem-solving methods
Appropriately documents in the EMR and is able to access information in the EMR
Maintains prompt and regular attendance
Verify timecard at the end of each pay period
Performs related work, as assigned Job Requirements: Must be a Registered Nurse with a current license in the State of Mississippi
Minimum of two years clinical work experience
Must possess a RN licensure and current Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association Physical and Other Requirements: Must tenuously listen, visualize and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability for simple grasping and speed work
Must frequently sit, squat, reach, use both right and left forearm rotation, walk and climb stairs
Must occasionally kneel, twist, have ability to grasp firmly, lift and carry, push and pull in excess of 20 lbs.
