Registered Nurse - OB/Labor and Delivery- Nights

Overview:
An experienced, compassionate OB/Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to assist with high-risk pregnancies, stabilizing, and referring/transferring patients to a facility that has obstetrical services.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: Triage obstetrical visits: rule out preterm labor, gestational hypertension, start treatment for hyperemesis gravidarum. Makes patient assessments and coordinate follow-up care.Assist with vaginally delivering patients' in imminent situations not requiring surgical intervention as well as providing emotional support and encouragement during labor.Taking and recording patients' blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.Helping patients to cope with miscarriages, stillbirths, and neonatal deaths.Recognizes and determines at-risk patients and obstetrical emergencies and provide treatment accordingly.Perform sterile vaginal exams.Ability to interpret fetal monitoring strips based on various categories according to AWHONN standards of care and treats appropriately.Assists the Health Care District's Ground Transportation Service with the transporting of obstetrical patients as needed.Ability to perform evidence-based, unbiased, apolitical, culturally competent careProven experience as a nurse in a hospital or OB-GYN settingThe ability to work under pressureStrong problem solving, analytical, and clinical assessment skillsEffective communication skillsPatient and compassionate Strong ethicsTeam spirit and positive attitude Triage Adult and Pediatric patients for the Emergency Department when there are no obstetrical patients in the department

Qualifications:
Education:Nursing degree from an accredited nursing schoolExperience:Two or more years practicing as an obstetrical/labor and delivery RNHospital experience requiredCertification:Basic Life Support (BLS) requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) requiredNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) requiredAdvanced Fetal Monitoring Certification requiredSugar and Safe Care, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work and Emotional Support (S.T.A.B.L.E.) preferredLicensure:State of Florida Registered Nurse license requiredHealth Care District of Palm Beach County is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free Workplace.
