Job Description
Job Specific Competencies:
Adheres to CLABSI and CAUTI protocols
Performs venipuncture, IV infusion therapy and pump usage
Completes Plan of Care. Initiate, review and resolve based on diagnosis and history
Completes assessments and reassessments and required documentation accurately and timely
Renders appropriate nurtritional care including enteral + parenteral therapies
Medication administration which includes critical medications and evaluates response
Adheres to infection prevention protocol including but not limited to hand hygiene, PPE and universal precautions
Administration of blood and blood products
Activates Core Measures and Septic Protocols as indicated
Able to perform chest PT, oral, naso, tracheostomy, endo, and tracheal suctioning
Reports critical Lab, Radiology, EKG, + ABG values to MD according to policy
Identifies + responds to emergency situations
Proficient in ventilation management + pulmonary support
Demonstrates proficiency in life support; code blue and Rapid Response
Adapts to varied age specific patient populations; e.g. infant, toddler, adult, etc.
Identifies concomitant health + social needs of patients
Ensures proper discharge instructions and mediction reconciliation including follow-up referral
Assists with bedside interventional procedures
Performs PKUand blood glucose testing, hearing screening and able to interpret blood gases and pulse oximetry
Demonstrates competence with use of CPAP and newborn receiving phototherapy
Able to set up and assist with circumcisions
Competent in calculating and administering newborn dose of medication
Demonstrates competence in educating post partum patients in breast feeding and bottle feeding
Competent in the care of the newborn in the delivery room through admitting/stabilizing newborn to the nursery
Is able to accurately assess and manage normal and high risk newborns including resuscitation of the critically ill newborn
Identifies criteria for consultation and/or transfer to Level 2 or Level 3 nursery

EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate from accredited Nursing Program. BSN preferred
Computer proficient

CREDENTIALS + QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid RN NJ license
BLS
ACLS
NRP
