The Midwife will develop and implement a system for continuing quality improvement of nurse-midwifery care within the healthcare setting.

Provide clinical and educational experiences for nurse-midwifery, nursing, and medical students. Evaluate policies and procedures affecting practice and revise as necessary. Initiate and participate in research related to women's health.

Provide quality, full scope nurse-midwifery care to obstetrical and gynecological patients served by Humboldt Park Health (HPH) within established practice guidelines.

Facilitate active participation of the client and family in the health process through education, counseling, and encouragement of open communication with the healthcare team.

Promote the principles of consumer oriented, family-centered, women's health care within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of HPH.

Provide clinical and educational experiences for nurse-midwifery, nursing, and medical students.

Contribute to the understanding of nurse-midwifery practice through fostering effective working relationship among nurse-midwives, other health ream members, client and the public.

Participate in professional organizations and committees.

  • Delivers a variety of healthcare services, including preventative, chronic and acute services.

Performs diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, carries out health-risk assessments, routine check-ups, screening tests and immunizations, and counseling to individuals on ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and to prevent diseases.
Ensure participation in continuing education and training to keep abreast of current developments in the industry.
Provide quality care to patients by following the most current evidence-based guidelines and procedure of practice.
Takes part in quality assurance audits.

Must have a current advanced practice nursing license in the State of IL. Must have Certified Nurse Midwife certification (CNM) Current ACLS, PALS. BLS required.

Bilingual, Spanish/English a plus.

Previous Community Health Nursing is a plus.
