Nurse Manager (RN) Labor and Delivery

HCA Houston Healthcare West is a full-service 266 bed hospital that provides a range of health services. It is recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and, under an affiliation agreement with The Woman's Hospital of Texas, brings to its community The Woman's Hospital of Texas at West Houston, a three-story cardiac and critical care tower. The Sugar Land Cancer Center and the Sugar Land Diagnostic Center, departments with HCA Houston Healthcare West, are located on the Southwest Freeway at the Williams Trace and Sugar Lakes exit.

HCA Houston Healthcare West is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

What you will do in this role:

  • The Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for all functions in the assigned unit.
  • In collaboration with the Director and members of the medical staff, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of quality of patient care services provided in the department by all levels of practitioners.
  • Initiates, guides, and directs the coordination of all functions for the assigned unit.
  • Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided in the assigned unit.
  • Makes decisions regarding activities within the department based on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Department of Nursing Standards in collaboration with the Director in unusual situations.


What qualification you will need:

  • Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing, BSN required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice in provision of clinical nursing of mother and baby patients with emphasis on leadership and management experience.
  • L&D RN experience, required.
  • American Red Cross or America Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification is required.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification is required.
