Description:
Full time position in the NICU/Peds department at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center. Primarily night position that has the capability to rotate to days; this position is also required to work every third weekend and every third holiday. Will be cross trained to care for postpartum moms and newborns. Required to become NRP certified in first six months; Mandatory Reporter, BLS and PALS also required.
Night shift: 1800-0630 - Every third weekend and holiday

The birth center and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are both located
on the 5th floor; pediatrics is located on the 3rd floor.

All staff are trained to care for postpartum patients in addition to their
specialty unit. NICU nurses are cross-trained to pediatrics; birth center
staff are encourage to cross-train as well.

All staff may choose to cross-train to additional units within the service
line.

Nurses work 12-hour shifts at ratios recommended by AWHONN.

Schedules for all positions are considered "cooperative scheduling." This is
self-scheduling that is finalized by a staffing guidelines committee prior to
distribution of the schedule.

E-shifts are required in lieu of taking call; the total number of E-shifts
required by staff is dependent on the department's individual needs.

This service line hires RNs with the ADN (BSN required within 4 years) with a six-
eight week orientation to postpartum and 10-12 weeks orientation to their
specialty area (birth center, NICU or pediatrics).
