Our Risk Management team is looking for an experienced Risk Management and Perinatal Safety Manager who is passionate about helping our members transform their best practices for Perinatal Loss Control programs.  Our team works collaboratively across all office locations: Alamo, Glendale, Granite Bay and San Diego, supporting members in California, Oregon and Washington.   Do you have a passion for Perinatal Safety?  Do you enjoy building long-lasting relationships with our members?  If so, our team is expanding and we are looking for you!  This is a 100% telecommuting position, but must be based within driving distance to any of our offices: Alamo, Glendale, Granite Bay or San Diego.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:

This is a mid-level, non-supervisory role in our Risk Management and Patient Safety Department.  In this role you will serve as an expert for our members in the design and implementation of Perinatal Safety strategies for BETA Healthcare Group and HealthPro RRG hospital members and insureds. You will cultivate “best practices” across BETA members, insureds and clients.  This position reports to the Senior Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety and works alongside our team of Patient Safety professionals. 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Collaborate with member hospitals and insured’s perinatal medical and nursing leadership to promote a patient safety culture and adherence to national clinical standards utilizing the principles and practice of the science of safety. Serve as a visible and recognized advocate for patient safety. Keep abreast of and disseminate changing national standards of clinical practice and safety science literature. Evaluate local, state and national risk trends impacting perinatal services.  Conduct annual learning needs assessment in collaboration with Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety. Responsible for developing interdisciplinary learning opportunities related to perinatal care. Collaborate in the development of an annual education calendar, including webinars, in-services, training and conference offerings. Identify, design and/or develop tools and resources focused on perinatal safety for our members and insureds including updates to OB Toolkit. Facilitate clinical drills for high-risk situations employing the state of the art clinical simulation methods. As a certified trainer in teamwork skills, facilitates and supports teamwork-training program at member hospitals. Conduct annual Quest for Zero: OB Initiative Validation audits and other assessments as needed in accordance with BETA guidelines. May contribute to, or lead, Collaborative effort to design, develop and implement best practice strategies with member organizations Excellent presentation, facilitation, and computer technology skills. Strong organization and communication skills.  Ability to initiate, solve problems and improve processes independently.
  • Meet performance expectations for service, teamwork, resource utilization, and self- development as outlined in performance review. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department.
  • This position requires 30%-50% travel within the state of California, Oregon and Washington

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of five years labor and delivery clinical experience required.  Obstetrics, newborn, and neonatal care recommended. BSN required.  MSN, CNS or MS Patient Safety strongly preferred. Current California State Nursing License in good standing. RNC-OB, C-EFM, CPPS preferred. Within six months of hire, will obtain certification in TeamSTEPP’s principles. Within six months of hire, will obtain certification in Just Culture principles. Within one year of hire, will obtain Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). Proficient with computers/software including Word and Office 365 to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote applications. Strong project management skills required. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
