The NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital has staff with extensive specialized training and experience to provide stabilizing and life-saving care for sick newborns. Through teamwork and collaboration, we respectfully address the physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of pediatric patients and their families. The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU — the highest level of intensive care for neonates.We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support® program and have a Neuro NICU with specialized care for babies with neurologic conditions.NICU Level IV: 49 bedsProvides developmentally appropriate care to infants born 22 weeks and above 1-2 patients per RN depending on stability of the babyRNs must become NRP certified.Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on Staff 24/7This position will be working 72 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits including loan repayment.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
Provides care to patients with complex NICU needs. Performs advanced monitoring using current technologyCare of intubated patientsHigh Frequency ventilationSurgical patients with congenital anomaliesTotal Body Cooling (TBC)Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)Care of intubated patients and patients with tracheostomiesCentral arterial lines/monitoringCentral and other venous lines
Qualifications:
Required:MN RN LicenseBLSPreferredBSN or BANNICU RN experience Certification in related specialty. Additional Requirements:Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hireAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
