The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Nurse Manager to provide leadership and management of the Nursing team in delivering safe, quality, family-centered patient care in collaboratiion with interdisciplinary teams.

 

Position Specific Summary

Provide managerial and clinical leadership for 6JPP Labor and Delivery Unit.  Ensure that all staff provide safe clinical care and have the education, methods and resources to accomplish their performance objectives.

Positions in this job family usually have limited involvement in direct patient care and focus their efforts in planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical education programs and research programs of clinical and health service departments.

 

Percent of Time: 100%

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Days, 

Location: 6JPP

Rotations: Holiday and weekend coverage

Salary: $61,862 per year to commensurate

Current license to practice nursing in Iowa or ability to obtain an Iowa license by date of hire is required Recent experience in clinical practice Considerable (3-5 years) experience and demonstrated skill in leadership/management roles At least two years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing Experience with unit operations including human resources, financial management, quality management, and compliance with regulatory environment with various federal and state agencies and the Joint Commission Demonstrated experience with patient/family satisfactiion initiatives including modeling service excellence principles/standards Demonstrated experience with staff engagement initiatives Demonstrated experience with patient/family satisfaction initiatives and staff engagement Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment is required Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with physicians, staff, patients, families, outside agencies/vendors, and the community Must be proficient in computer software applications Desired Qualifications: Experience working in large academic medical center Experience working in pediatric nursing Experience working in Postpartum and Antepartum Nursing, with Obstetrics and Gynecology physicians in a multidisciplinary environment Experience with Fetal Monitoring, BLS, ACLS and NRP Experience working in union environment Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing or Fetal Monitoring
