Job DescriptionResponsibilities

Primary Function:

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Lactation Consultant RN develops, implements and evaluates the patient education programs for the Mother/Infant Unit.
    \tMeets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington - Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees\tProvides consultation to inpatients and outpatients regarding lactation to meet care needs.\tInteracts with patients to ensure that individual learning needs are met.\tDevelops, implements and evaluates educational programs to meet patient/family learning needs for lactating patients.\tPrepares and provides patient education materials on an ongoing basis to facilitate learning.\tPrepares and provides staff education and will have 2 in-services per year.\tPerforms other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Experience:
      \tFive+ years' experience in maternal/child nursing. Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating teaching/leaning experiences.
      Education and Training:
        \tGraduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Associates or Bachelors of Nursing preferred. Continuing Education in area of expertise.Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
        License, Certification & Registration:
          \tCurrent certification in basic life support and neonatal resuscitation. International Board Certified Lactation Consultant required.
          Other Requirements:
            \tDemonstrated ability to communicate approximately and effectively. Demonstrated expertise in lactation consulting

            Conditions of Employment

            Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.

            Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.
