SUMMARY
Perinatal Safety Specialist reporting to the Director of Nursing for OB/GYN RGH. The Patient Safety Specialist is responsible for planning, implementing, directing and/or evaluating patient safety improvement programs throughout Rochester General Health System. The Patient Safety Specialist will serve as a direct resource with clinical and technical expertise. The Patient Safety Specialist works with teams to ensure the highest possible level of safety, quality, performance, and innovation are achieved.
STATUS: Full time
LOCATION: RGH and NWCH
DEPARTMENT: OBGYN
SCHEDULE: Weekdays Day/Evening

Clinical Ladder
Nurses who advance on our clinical ladder receive a promotion at the bedside through growth in their skillset, a new title and monetary recognition up to $3.00/hour
Rapid Pay Increases
Receive rapid pay increases every six months during the first two years of employment, and annual increases thereafter.
Unlimited Certifications
Nurses earn up to an additional $1.00/hour for each certification earned plus a $1,000 bonus for the first certification earned, and $500 for the second certification.

SCHEDULE: Weekdays Day/Evening
ATTRIBUTES
- BSN required, Masters preferred. EFM and NRP certification and 3-5 years of OB/GYN experience, preferred.
- Registered Nurse license in New York State
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilizes knowledge of patient safety practices and policies to develop and deliver educational sessions to team members.
- Administrator for key educational components of Relias for RGH and NWCH.
- Uses multiple resources to communicate lessons learned from patient safety initiatives across the organization
- Utilizes knowledge of quality literature, theories of innovation and operational expertise to assist departments in the development of goals and strategies to achieve patient safety goals
- Participates in improvement activities partnering with the educators for all staff including simulation, skills days, and grand rounds.
- Collaborates with other system safety nurses in OB to harmonize guidelines, create new guidelines and assist with continuous updates to remain current.
- Lead multidisciplinary groups to identify and implement strategies that address specific patient safety issues.
