Labor & Delivery RN Nurse

Rate $91.00

36 Hours ( 3 x 12 )

General job duties. Types of procedures required.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The nurse assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The nurse practices within the full scope of nursing expertise with knowledge of and utilizing appropriate age related nursing standards as related to high and low risk antepartum, intrapartum, and post-partum women and their well newborns.

Family Birth Center services include triage, antepartum, labor and delivery, recovery room, operating room, post-partum, general newborn, and transport services. Advanced department specific skills required, they are, but not limited to: fetal monitoring competency, administration of IV fluids such as Pitocin and magnesium, OR skills, cervical checks, labor support, family care and lactation support.

The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the North Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, and the Social Policy Statement for Nurses as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery. For purposes of staffing and to assure clinical expertise, the Family Birth Center is a closed staffing unit, which requires flexibility of nursing staff.

Epic Charting, Fetal Monitoring, Acudose, Glucometer, IV pumps

3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
2 years of L&D experience minimum

4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
NRP, ACLS, BLS

5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
Up to 4 weeks of off shifts and 2 weeks of day shifts, every 3rd weekend and every other holiday. 12 hour shifts. 20 hours of call every 6 weeks.

6. Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)

34 bed unit

1:1 active labor, 3-4 mom/baby couplets (3 on days and eves, up to 4 on nights)
hospital issued scrubs on L&D, navy on postpartum
Orientation will be completed by a primary preceptor. Will complete 2-3 orientation shifts or more if needed and use a criterion checklist.
