The NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital has staff with extensive specialized training and experience to provide stabilizing and life-saving care for sick newborns. The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU — the highest level of intensive care for neonates.

We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support® program and have a Neuro NICU with specialized care for babies with neurologic conditions.
NICU Level IV:
  • 49 beds
  • Provides developmentally appropriate care to infants born 22 weeks and above
  • 1-2 patients per RN depending on stability of the baby
  • RNs must become NRP certified.
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on Staff 24/7

This position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the day shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits including loan reimbursement.Responsibilities/Job Description:Provides care to patients with complex NICU needs.
  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology
  • Care of intubated patients
  • High Frequency ventilation
  • Surgical patients with congenital anomalies
  • Total Body Cooling (TBC)
  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
  • Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
  • Care of intubated patients and patients with tracheostomies
  • Central arterial lines/monitoring
  • Central and other venous lines
Qualifications:Required:
  • 2 years of RN experience in a level 3 NICU
  • MN RN License
  • BLS
Preferred
  • BSN or BAN
  • Certification in related specialty.

Additional Requirements:
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
