The NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital has staff with extensive specialized training and experience to provide stabilizing and life-saving care for sick newborns. Through teamwork and collaboration, we respectfully address the physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of pediatric patients and their families. The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU — the highest level of intensive care for neonates.
We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support® program and have a Neuro NICU with specialized care for babies with neurologic conditions.
NICU Level IV:
This position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the day shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits including loan reimbursement.Responsibilities/Job Description:Provides care to patients with complex NICU needs.

NICU Level IV:
- 49 beds
- Provides developmentally appropriate care to infants born 22 weeks and above
- 1-2 patients per RN depending on stability of the baby
- RNs must become NRP certified.
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioners on Staff 24/7

- Performs advanced monitoring using current technology
- Care of intubated patients
- High Frequency ventilation
- Surgical patients with congenital anomalies
- Total Body Cooling (TBC)
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
- Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
- Care of intubated patients and patients with tracheostomies
- Central arterial lines/monitoring
- Central and other venous lines
- 2 years of RN experience in a level 3 NICU
- MN RN License
- BLS
- BSN or BAN
- Certification in related specialty.
Additional Requirements:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
