Labor and Delivery at Mission Hospital

Labor and Delivery at HCA Mission Hospital is a fast-paced, high-volume nursing unit that is the only high-risk referral center for 18 counties in Western North Carolina and delivers over 4000 babies per year. The L&D unit is comprised of antepartum, intrapartum, OB Emergency Department, Women's Operating Room and Women's PACU. Nurses working on this team will be trained in all areas of Labor & Delivery and will spend time working in each aspect of the unit. L&D Nurses are required to maintain BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Program course completion.

Mother-Baby Unit - Postpartum Care at Mission Hospital

After a safe and healthy birth, our patients and their newborns are transitioned to our Mother-Baby unit, a quiet and family-centered environment where parents and baby can bond. Highly-skilled and specialized postpartum nurses and lactation consultants offer breastfeeding support and answer any questions the new parent may have, informing and preparing our patients for their time to leave the hospital.

Mission Hospital handles over 4000 deliveries per year. Our Mother-Baby unit has 34 beds, our patients room-in with their newborns. A RN working on the Mother-Baby team must be well-rounded to provide compassionate and expert care to both the mother and the infant.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mission Hospital

Western NC regional referral center serving 18 counties. We provide quality, Family-Centered Care with state-of-the-art intensive care for our neonatal population.

This is a 51-bed, Level III NICU unit that includes an Infant Transport Team, specialized delivery team, pediatrics specialists to include pediatric surgery, genetics, and serves as the perinatal high-risk center for the WNC region.

Our interdisciplinary care team also features 8 Neonatologists, 8 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Pediatric Nutritionists, Pediatric Respiratory Specialists, and other working alongside our nurses to provide exceptionally high-quality care to our patients and their families.

Registered Nurse - SP Premium - Requirements:

Role Summary: Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Implements medically prescribed interventions.

Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Effective 3/1/18 Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program within 6 months AND obtain a BSN within 4 years of hire date into RN position. Previous signed BSN commitment letter OR grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions may be approved with CNO System Council approval.

Preferred Education: Master's in Nursing.

Required License or Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider.

**Labor & Delivery also requires: ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring

Preferred License or Certifications: National Certification in area of specialty.

Required Experience: At least one year of experience in an inpatient, acute hospital setting as a Registered Nurse - this is the core requirement for the Registered Nurse role at Mission Health. Please see "Preferred Experience" for department-specific needs.

Preferred Experience: At least one year in Labor & Delivery Nursing experience highly preferred.
