Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose
The incumbent reports to the individual Childbirth Education Coordinator at The Women's Hospital with accountability to the Nurse Manager of Women's Care. The incumbent conducts classes within the defined outline to assure uniform information which is supported by the CHI Saint Joseph Health System and the CHI Saint Joseph Medical Staff. The incumbent maintains peer relationships by attending meetings which address new issues that will impact the class content.
May be responsible to facilitate the following classes
* Breastfeeding
* Newborn CPR
* Prepared Childbirth
* Early Pregnancy
* Childbirth Refresher
* Sibling Class
* Miscellaneous childbirth classes as added to the curriculum
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Experience as a clinical provider in the Maternal Child Health field with a minimum of one year experience in maternal newborn nursing and/or labor and delivery or previous experience as an instructor in childbirth education
Required Licensure and Certifications
Professional licensure as an active RN license or inactive with previous obstetric experience or certification through a professional organization related to Lamaze Education, Lactation Support Education, or Specialty Certification in the Maternal Child area preferably one of the following certifications: B.E.S.T, ICEA, ASPO, and Certified Breastfeeding Education
