This position will be scheduled in the Special Care Nursery unit at The Christ Hospital Health Network main campus located at 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. # Unit Description:Special Care Nursery is a 15 bed level II nursery. SCN infants are# 32 weeks gestation and above, with the average infant between 32 and 36 weeks and requiring respiratory or feeding assistance. SCN also serves full term infants with a range of medical conditions, including narcotic withdrawal. In addition to caring for SCN infants, SCN Staff RNs attend all deliveries and perform initial assessments on every newborn. Staff RNs provide evidence based care and place special emphasis on skin-to-skin, breastfeeding, and safe sleep. # Job Overview:The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.# All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. The care is culturally based and age specific. The RN adheres to American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. # Education:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN is required within five years of hire. Current RNs must obtain a BSN or be actively enrolled in a BSN program by 2020. # Experience: Level II or III nursery RN experience is preferred. # Licensure: The RN holds a current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio.# Membership in professional organizations is desirable.# BLS certification is required prior to patient contact. NRP required. Certification in area of clinical specialty is expected within five years of eligibility.#
