POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating the total nursing care of assigned patients including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation. The RN is responsible for delegating to and supervising the job classes of: student nurse, LPN, nursing assistant, and unit secretary. The RN assists in the orientation of new staff and clinical supervision of nursing students. The RN assists in achieving patient quality of care, national patient safety, regulatory agency, and budgetary goals. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation and communicable disease. The majority of work time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances, with frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 100 lbs., as well as occasional carrying of up to 25 lbs. A culturally and linguistically diverse patient population is served including antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum women from adolescents to adults, and well newborns.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Arkansas RN license or licensed in a state that has enacted the RN/LPN NLC, and CPR.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed to work in the state of Arkansas or licensed in a state that has enacted the RN/LPN NLC. This position also requires certification in NRP*.
* within 1 (one) year of DOH.
