Harris Regional Hospital, located in Sylva, NC, seeks an experienced neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP) to join the hospital's newly-launched neonatology service line. Harris Regional Hospital is the only facility west of Haywood County providing labor and delivery services. It is the only hospital in the region with a full-service pediatric group.
The NP will round on newborns in the hospital alongside an experienced neonatologist. Average daily census is up to 4 newborns in the Level II Nursery/NICU and approximately 4 on Labor & Delivery/Mother-Baby Unit. The position is inpatient-only, days, Monday through Friday. The NP will take 14 days per month of first call, splitting the month with the neonatologist.
Harris Regional Hospital is an 86-bed acute care hospital with multiple neonatal and pediatric support services including childbirth education classes and breastfeeding support with International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). Pediatric physical and speech therapists perform feeding assessments, provide positioning and sensory input support, and are trained in treating ankyloglossia, cleft palate, and other feeding-inhibiting conditions. The Level II Nursery/NICU team includes respiratory therapists who have achieved the Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification. The Level II Nursery/NICU is located inside the New Generations Family Birthing Center which underwent a $6 million renovation in 2018 and is located on the third floor of the hospital.
