The NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital has staff with extensive specialized training and experience to provide stabilizing and life-saving care for sick newborns. Through teamwork and collaboration, we respectfully address the physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of pediatric patients and their families. In 2021, three medical specialties at University of Minnesota Masonic Childrens Hospital were nationally ranked on U.S. News & World Reports annual Best Childrens Hospitals list. It is our 14th year in a row on this premier national list, a recognition of the dedication and expertise of our world-class teams and our unique role as Minnesotas only academic childrens hospital.Specialists with University of Minnesota Health are leaders in critical care research and technology. We offer our smallest patients the benefits of receiving care at our nationally recognized academic medical center. The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU the highest level of intensive care for neonates comprised of 3 units Small Baby, Med/Surg, and Intermediate Care with the opportunities to advance to higher level acuity.We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support program and have a Neuro NICU with specialized care for babies with neurologic conditions.NICU Department:Level IV NICUNeonatal Nurse Practitioners on Staff 24/774 bedsNICU Med/Surg: Level IV29 bedsCaring for babies above 32 weeks 1-2 patients per RN depending on stability of the babyRNs must become NRP certified.This position will be working 72 hours every two weeks on the night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. The position is eligible for benefits including loan repayment.
Responsibilities/Job Description:
Provides care to patients with complex NICU needs.Performs advanced monitoring using current technologySurgical patients with congenital anomaliesTotal Body Cooling (TBC)Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)Care of intubated patients and patients with tracheostomiesCentral arterial lines/monitoringCentral and other venous lines
Qualifications:
Required:2 years of pediatric RN experience OR at least 6 months of current employment at UMMCH as a NICU RNMN RN LicenseBLS
