Our Family Birth Center is Joint Commission Certified for Perinatal Care and Baby Friendly designated. FBC consists of a 12 bed labor unit, 2 OR's, a 14 bed private postpartum unit, a PACU and 2 triage bays. We average 160-180 deliveries a month, and the department is supported by 7 Nurse Shift Managers, a Perinatal Safety Nurse and a Perinatal Nurse Educator. The incumbent is a professional who provides and supervises care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, providing leadership, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally.
