Job Description
A registered nurse holds ultimate responsibility for the provision of high-quality and safe nursing care to their patients and their families in the maternal newborn service. These responsibilities include the provision of nursing assessment, care, and evaluation of postpartum women and their newborns. The maternal newborn nurse adheres to the principles and practices of family-centered developmental care. The nurse utilizes a problem-focused orientation; integrates objective data with knowledge gained from an understanding of the patient's or group's subjective experiences; applies scientific knowledge to the process of diagnosis and treatment; and provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing. The Registered Nurse adheres to the Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations, ANA scope and standards of nursing, the ANA code of ethics for nursing, MelroseWakefield Healthcare policies and procedures, and other regulatory requirements. The maternal newborn nurse participates in interprofessional collaborative practice and high-performance teamwork.
