Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations to assist health care providers in patient treatment planning.

Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Knowledge of emotional and social factors that affect patient's health. 2. Knowledge of discharge and in-service education programs. 3. Excellent interpersonal skills. 4. Skilled in identifying problems/opportunities to improve care. 5. Ability to help the patient and family to understand, accept and follow medical recommendations. 6. Ability to utilize resources, such as family and community agencies to assist the patient to resume life in the community. 7. Ability to collect key information from the patient, family and the community as part of the social worker assessment. 8. Ability to communicate to the appropriate staff information about the patient's discharge plan. 9. Ability to manage time sufficiently to achieve established goals. 10. Skill in obtaining appropriate health care resources/services and educating others. 11. Ability to articulate the professional use of self in the relationship to maximize client's adjustment, enhance strengths and promote resolution of identified problems. 12. Ability to develop effective therapeutic interventions that are socio-culturally sensitive.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education

Associate's Degree (Required) Education and Experience 1. Completion of two year hospital or college Non-Invasive Sonography program approved by the American Medical Association, required.

Credentials

Registration as a Sonographer in Obstetrics/Gynecology appropriate to the position by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, required. 2. BLS Certification, required.
