Job Summary and Qualifications
The Lactation Consultant is a Registered Nurse who champions and serves as an expert consultant for the facility's Breastfeeding Program. The primary focus of this role is facilitating the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding by providing education and assistance to our patients. Additionally, this RN Specialist will train and collaborate with the maternal nursing staff in order to provide consistent and accurate information to new mothers. ·You will perform complete and accurate Lactation assessment on assigned patients.

·You will plan comprehensive lactation intervention and guidance based on assessments to assigned patients according to written lactation standards.

·You will provide and document lactation assistance and education to assigned patients in compliance with written hospital Polices and Procedures based upon Standards of Care.


    ·You will evaluate patient's lactation care outcomes in appropriate and timely manner.

    What qualifications you will need:
    Education and Experience:

    ·Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required

    ·1+ year of nursing experience in Women's Services required

    ·2 years' experience as a lactation educator in an inpatient setting

    Licenses and Certifications:

    ·Current Texas RN License or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact State required. New hires have 90 days from start date to obtain Texas RN License

    ·Current BLS certification required

    ·IBCLC (Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant) within 2 years of hire date required.
