Labor & Delivery, NICU and Newborn nursery are comprised of 20 LDRP single-room birthing suites, 2 C-section surgical suites, 20 licensed nursery beds, and 20 licensed Level III NICU beds. New parents are supported with childbirth education plus a bilingual lactation nurse. Along with our excellent hospital-based mother/baby services, BSA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) supports a fixed wing transportation team, available 24/7, flies to rural communities to transport babies by airplane from area hospitals to the Level III designated BSA NICU.

BSA is a patient centered and nurse friendly hospital. The candidate must be able to effectively mentor approximately 30 FTE's while maintaining high quality and patient/family satisfaction standards. Job Summary:
The Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the Director with the overall responsibilities of the Neonatal ICU in accordance with established nursing standards, philosophy and BSA Mission and Vision. The Nurse Manager serves as a vital link between management and the clinical staff as well as strives to achieve efficient, safe and cost-effective patient care.

License/Certifications/Education:
Current Texas RN; BSN or MSN preferred
CPR American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NRP required; STABLE required

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
3 years minimum nursing experience; Newborn Nursery, NICU experience required; NICU Transport team experience preferred
Leadership and management skills in a hospital environment desired
Previous experience with delivery attendance, infants in transition, term infants, and assisting with newborn emergency management preferred
Experience with equipment specific to Newborn Nursery: transport incubator, T-piece resuscitator, infant radiant warmer and incubator, infant cardiorespiratory monitors, phototherapy equipment, transcutaneous bilimeter, syringe infusion pumps, electric breast pumps
Interpersonal skills effective in fostering team building, communication, and professional accountability
Assist with the plan of care, evaluate and coordinate care with other disciplines
Understanding of financial and productivity management and of patient flow
Understanding of educational requirements, clinical competencies and certifications of the unit staff
Competent computer use including various computer programs, analyzing data and generating reports
Possess strong verbal and written communication, organizational, teamwork and follow-through skills
Multi-task constantly and tolerate interruptions
Clear and effective delegation skills
Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team
