Nurses Defining Medicine NICU (New Grad)The nurses in the Womens Services Division of GeorgeWashington UniversityHospital(GW Hospital) areDefining Medicinethrough our capacity to think, research, evaluate, teach, learn, refine, and innovate.We are seeking newly licensed RNs who are committed to serving the childbirth needs of the DC urban and surrounding metro community. Our nurses support mothers by honoring how they wish to birth, which may include natural childbirth with midwifery or doula, water births, Cesarean births, epidurals and options for high-risk situations. We are empowered to foster positive patient outcomes through a collaborative practice model and evidence-based nursing practice. The George Washington University Hospital is a Level I Trauma Teaching Hospital. A helipad opened in 2019, which expedites care to the critically ill or injured. The hospital seeks applicants with a strong sense of social responsibility to match the hospitals commitment to the DC/Metro community. Visit gwhospital.com for more information.NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAMThe GW Hospital nurse residency program combine lectures, e-learning, and hands on-skills lab experience with a clinical application in an acute care setting. Each intern is paired with an experienced RN preceptor in the clinical area. At the conclusion of the internship nurses begin the Nurse Residency Program as our goal is to achieve a successful and smooth transition for the new nurse. This one-year program is designed to assist the nurse in his/her continued development. The program includes monthly classes, debriefing sessions, and evidence based project, and Nurse Residency Coordinator oversight. Requirements:GPA of 3.0 or greater from an accredited NLN or AACN RN program, BSN preferred.Unofficial transcriptTwo letters of recommendation (one must be from a clinical instructor or professor)Current CPR Certification by AHA or ARCSuccessful completion of Driving Nursing Attributes Assessment. NICU RNNeonatal Intensive Care UnitThe dedicated nurses and neonatal caregivers at our 24/7 Level III B NICU provide high-quality, family-centered care for critically ill or premature infants. WHAT YOU WILL DOSupport mothers in breastfeeding, bonding and learning how to care for their newbornsCollaborate to provide a customized birth experiencePrepare and guide mothers through stages of laborActively learn advanced childbirth techniques and programsSupport a nurturing and caring environmentWork within a comprehensive team with Unit Educators, Nurse Facilitators, Womens Services RN Administrators and Clinical Supervisors. Provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy.
