**Experience:**
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- One year of acute care nursing experience preferred for areas other than medical-surgical or step-down

**License:** Current New York RN license/registration

**Certifications:**
- BSN required for RNs hired after 1/1/18
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- NRP certification required for NICU within 6 months of hiring

**Must-Have:**
- Completion of Department and Unit Orientation Program
- Adherence to infection control standards and patient safety goals
- Effective communication and collaboration skills

**Job Description:**

- Provide direct patient care and assess patients' needs
- Collaborate with patients, family members, peers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Implement and evaluate medical and nursing regimens according to nursing philosophy, policies, and standards
- Demonstrate leadership skills and commitment to professional growth and accountability
- Utilize nursing processes to meet age-specific patient needs in biophysical, psychosocial, educational, safety/environment, and discharge planning aspects
- Address unit-based issues with appropriate actions
- Integrate patient rights and nursing ethics into work practice
- Delegate activities to ancillary staff according to State Nurse Practice Act
- Support and promote professional nursing practice models
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives
- Attend mandatory in-services and staff meetings as required
- Utilize cost-containment practices
- Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities
- Adhere to national patient safety goals
