Currently recruiting a Lactation Consultant (Non-RN) in to work in the Mother-Child-Infant Nursing Department at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, near Jacksonville, North Carolina. The Lactation Consultant (non-RN) will provide medical care to Active Duty heroes, their family members, and military retirees. The Lactation Consultant (non-RN) position is full-time, 8 hr shifts, 40 hrs per week, Sun - Sat, between the hours of 0700 - 1930. Full benefits and including 17 days of paid vacation & sick leave, plus paid 10 federal holidays.

DUTIES OF THE LACTATION CONSULTANT (NON-RN):

Provide professional lactation consultant care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner. Consult each patient independently and perform lactation consultant assessments. Formulate and carry out a goal directed plan of care according to patient needs and available resources. Establish breastfeeding postpartum follow-up as needed. Provide lactation consultation instructions upon patient release. Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner. Maintain and track breastfeeding statistics. Participate in Performance Improvement (PI) program. Initiate changes in practice if required. Work closely with the department staff to provide breastfeeding education to patients, employees and the local community. Assist in instructing other medical personnel to include providers, RNs, LPNs, and ancillary personnel supporting the NHCL breastfeeding policy and teaching plan.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE NON-RN LACTATION CONSULTANT:

Possess and maintain current Board Certification, by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) to include recertification and continuing education as required by the IBLCE.Possess a minimum of one year experience performing duties of a Lactation Consultant within the last five years.Supervision; Personal Services. Commanding Officer, Department Head, or designated government representative will supervise the non-RN Lactation Consultant. Certifications: In addition to the qualifications listed in the contract, HCWs shall maintain the following additional certifications:U.S. Citizen (required for access to Gov' t computer systems).
