The Perinatal Navigator also assumes responsibility and accountability for the management of resources to achieve efficient, high quality outcomes for each obstetrical patient including support for the mother and infant, before and after delivery.

The Perinatal Navigator is responsible for:

* Serves as a patient advocate throughout her pregnancy

* Establishing a relationship with patients and their significant other early in pregnancy, acting as a liaison between the patient and their provider and the hospital.

* Assessing patients' medical, social, psychosocial, and other care needs

* Providing tours for patients, families and/or significant others pre-delivery.

* Ensure patient is empowered to manage her own healthcare needs

* Provides patient education regarding admission to labor and delivery, care during labor and birth, normal care routines for baby at time of delivery, procedures to be completed prior to discharge.

* Provides information on the service and amenities of the Osceola Regional Medical Center Women's Services maternity units.

* Assists patient and family members in customizing a birth plan to meeting their individual cultural and spiritual preferences.

* Demonstrates through behavior the organization's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Always, Respect and Excellence.

* Maintains working knowledge of Women's Services programs offered to pregnant patients and their families. Offering our resources, educating mothers about programs and assisting with scheduling childbirth classes .

Qualifications

Requirements:

*

Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of Florida and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation

*

Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required. Will accept an ADN with an agreement to complete a BSN within two years of hire.

*

Minimum three years obstetrical nursing experience Bilingual-Spanish

*

Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required)

*

Preferred:

* RNC-OB, RNC-NIC, RNC-MNN, IBCLC or professional certification
