JOB SUMMARY:

The Penn State Children's Hospital is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one the Best Children's Hospital across multiple specialties. As a designated Level 1 Children's Surgery Center, the hospital is just one of eight in the nation, and the only one in Pennsylvania, to achieve this designation through the American College of Surgeons Children's Surgery Verification Program.

The Children's Hospital expansion will open in the Fall of 2020 to help meet the needs of the children and families in Central Pennsylvania. When the expansion is complete, the Children's Hospital will provide more space for a state-of-the-art labor and delivery unit, the highest-level neonatal intensive care unit and exceptional care for children, moms and babies.

Registered Nurses in a PRN role are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing card to a designated group of patients with and without telemetry. RN's in the Pediatric and Maternal/Child PRN role may float to the following units: Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Pediatric Intensive Care, Pediatric Intermediate Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and Women's Health/Newborn Nursery. In addition, they may also work in Procedural areas including Children's Perianesthesia and the Children's Emergency Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Nurse with a license to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania or a Registered Nurse from another state with a Temporary PA Practice Permit

6 months of experience working as a RN

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BLS and Certification

Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and/or NRP depending upon field of practice

RN with three years of work experience in the field of pediatrics and/or maternal child nursing
