Position Summary
The LPN performs nursing functions, which involve preventive healthcare, health maintenance, and the care of persons who are ill, injured, or experiencing alterations in health processes at the direction of a delegating or supervisory registered nurse, with basic knowledge, judgment, and skills.

Education
High school graduation is necessary. Completion of an accredited program of education for practical nursing is necessary. Current VA licensee as a Practical Nurse is necessary.
Experience
0-5 years of experience as a licensed practical nurse is preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience is necessary.
Competencies
As stated above (all or some may be required): IV insertion, IV fluid/med administration and maintenance, validated proper technique of neb treatments, EKG, wound dressing ear/eye irrigation and caths depending on department need. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to follow and understand instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people at various levels within and outside the MFA. Ability to do math calculations, input data into the computer, and analyze data as requested.
