Job RequirementsMust have Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and some newborn stabilization experience.Will float to medsurg/peds.Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes.Common titratable &/or set rate drips include Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, amp and gent for babies.
Schedule InformationShifts are 0645-1915, 1845-0715.Self scheduling, will fill in schedule where there is a need.Weekend Requirements: Will fill in where there is a need.Holiday Requirements: If there is a need will work holidays.
Unit Specific Information# of L&D Beds: 4.# of OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: C-sections are done in the OR.Labor RNs will go down to OR with the patient and then convert over to the baby for stabilization and back to nursery.# of Triage beds: 1.# of Postpartum beds: 4 use L&D beds.# of Births per year: 250.Follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios: 1:2 couplet.Common diagnoses/Types of patients include Preeclampsia, cholestasis of pregnancy, repeat Cesarean sections, stabilize baby for transport.Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? No.Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? No.OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? No.Anesthesia in house 24/7? On call and within a few blocks of the hospital.RT Equipment: Nasal cannula, some CPAP.Tele/Monitor Techs: On rare occasion.# of shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 1 week.
