What You Will Need:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Active Texas R.N. license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • At least two years of RN experience in the area of NICU/Nursery preferred

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within a patient care unit and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. The Nurse is responsible for supervising and responsibly directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing personnel utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgement. Uses the nursing skills of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation I their patient care delivery. Primary function is the delivery of competent, compassionate, and cost-effective nursing care. To utilize the nursing process in the direction and administration of the medical and nursing plan of care. This performance is in compliance with established policies, procedures and protocols under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Director, and Vice President of Clinical Services, and or designee.
Qualifications

You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Formulates, implements and evaluates an individualized plan of care for each patient, based on identified needs/problems, in collaboration with the patient/significant others.
    • Provides all aspects of therapeutic nursing care, based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served:
    • Neonate
    • Physically assesses each patient and identifies needs/problems within the time frame established in nursing standards and protocols.
    • Established and prioritizes nursing diagnoses for all patients, based on initial assessment data.
    • Develops and documents a plan of care for all patients, based on the medical and nursing diagnoses identified during the initial assessment.
    • Implements and documents nursing actions that promotes the maintenance, restoration or rehabilitation of the patient's psycho-social and biophysical well-being.
    • Identifies and documents discharge planning needs.
    • Identifies and documents patient/family educational needs.
    • Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care and makes revisions on an on-going basis.
