RN, Women Services, Lactation Consultant, PRN, Days
JOB PURPOSE:
Assessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating care based on this assessment. Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults) through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established nursing policies and procedures. Monitoring couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families. Providing patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two (2) years of clinical nursing in area of specialty or one year of education experience.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Registered nurse with current non-restricted Georgia license.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BSN preferred. Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant preferred, or has received certification as a breast feeding counselor.
