Job Details

Indiana University Riley Hospital for Children new maternity tower is a comprehensive obstetrical facility providing women and babies with a full continuum of high-quality, expert health care. Offering a full spectrum of maternal and fetal medicine services, including an array of fetal diagnostic procedures and highly specialized fetal surgeries.

Under one roof, Riley Hospital for Children will soon operate labor and delivery and postpartum units, an obstetrical--intensive-care-unit, an OB emergency department, and dedicated OB operating rooms. It will also offer Level III and Level IV neonatal intensive-care units immediately adjacent to the obstetrical space to handle the most acute and complex medical cases for sick newborns.

The five-story tower, which opens this fall, will help to address Indiana’s high infant mortality rate and keep all newborn services together.  It will be a place where moms and babies can all be in one place and receive the highest level of care together.

This position functions within the OBICU unit at Riley Hospital for Children.  In this role, you will help to develop and implement strategies based on established nursing theories that encourage self-care, and helps to foster the physical, spiritual and the psychosocial well-being of the patient. Our team is ambitious and innovative as we strive to meet the needs of our patients while restoring their quality of life.

Being an OBICU nurse at IU Health means you play many roles. They are collaborators, educators, care coordinators, advocates, and change agents. They work with other healthcare team members and specialists to create comprehensive care plans to improve the health outcomes for mothers and newborns.

We are seeking RNs with at least 2 years of Labor & Delivery or Critical Care experience for this role. Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications   may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
